In stark contrast to the horrendous conditions met by riders last year, the 2nd edition of the Lcnaster ‘Velocity’ circuit races took place this evening (Friday 29th) in almost perfect conditions, save for a rising breeze on certain parts of the course.
The course, slightly modified from last year’s event, again proved to be a testing circuit for all involved with rough cobbles, sharp bends and a sharp climb over Moor Lane Canal Bridge.
In the Elite event local rider, Jack Pullar (Madison/Genesis) again had to settle for second place, chasing eventual winner Chris Lawless (Kuota) almost from the first lap.
Despite being described as ‘supporting races’ the 3rd, 4th and ladies and youth events also provided some exciting racging with Bill Nickson (Bill Nickson Cycles RT) taking the win in the 3rd/4th/ladies race in a 2-up sprinty against Darius Satongar (Manchester Wheelers) and Mark Donovan (Beacon Wheelers) taking top honours in the youth event.
As usual, click on the photo in this article for more images from the event (I’ll be uploading more over the next few days).
