Photo of the day #4 – Danny Hart, Fort William MTB World Cup 2010

After British Rider, Danny Hart stormed the World Championship downhill course in Champery, Switzerland earlier on this afternoon to take the 2011 mens downhill world champion title by an amazing 11 seconds from 2nd place rider Damien Spagnolo I thought I’d devote today’s photo of the day to him.

This shot was taken on Sunday morning practice at the Fort William round of the UCI Mountain bike world cup last year. Danny was one of the few riders to attempt the difficult line onto wall ride during the session and did so not once, but twice on consecutive runs. Danny is always a great rider to watch, usually riding right on the edge of control and always putting on a great show for the crowds and us media guys. Given the reported conditions on the world champs course today, it’s presumably this death or glory style that saw him blitz the course to take his first senior world champion title and become only the 3rd British male rider to take this highly coveted win after Gee Atherton in 2008 and Steve Peat in 2009.

Photo of the day #3 – Sunken bucket

Something slightly random today.

This was taken 8 years during a weekend away with friends from uni near Grantown on Spey, Scotland. While walking through woodland near the town I came upon this clearing with a bucket half buried in the grass. Rather surreal looking!

I really like the way the grass is tumbling over the rim of the bucket as if it were water.

Photo of the day #2 – Tyne Bridges

Well, I’ve made it to a second PotD!

Here’s another local photo with a slightly alternative view of the tyne bridges. I took quite a few shots of this view, some with fewer ripples in the puddle but I particularly like this one as the wider angle shows the edges of the puddle better which I feel adds something to the shot.

Photo of the day #1 – Warkworth Castle, Northumberland

This is one of a series of photos I took at Warkworth Castle in Northumberland a few weeks ago. I’m really pleased with the photo anyway but the main reason I uploaded it was to test out a flickr upload plugin in Adobe Lightroom.

This started me thinking. I have so many photo on my computer that I’ve never done with so I’m going to try something new on here. As well as my usual blog updates from various places and events I go to, I’ll be trying to upload a ‘photo of the day’ from my archives (and possibly new stuff too!).

I’ve no idea how long I’ll manage to keep this up and obviously there’s the issue of holidays etc but we shall see!

Happy Snapping people!
